BACK TO BORSEC

Those of you who've followed my exploits will be aware of how important it is for the health of my artistic soul for it to be on the road, to be free.  Last year I spent 5 weeks travelling through Romania and ended up in Istanbul, Turkey. In two weeks time I'm heading for the mountains of Transylvania to take up residency for the second consecutive year in the strange and wonderful environs of Borsec. The capital I make from you, yes you, buying my paintings funds such experiences and acts to enrich my creative practice. Please have a look at my work for sale >>>---------->  HERE. Your support ensures I am able to continue moving onward.

National Collective

National Collective is currently under attack by Vitol plc, a global oil conglomerate headed by death-profiteer, tax-evader and Tory fatcat Ian Taylor. Incidentally, Taylor just so happens to be the primary funder of the Better Together campaign. National Collective's site has been taken down and they/we are being sued, along with The Sunday Herald who also broke the story. I don't usually talk politics here but this is a direct attack on what we fight for as artists and progressive people; freedom from oppression, whether that be executed by individuals, companies, religious organizations, monarchies or the state. This frankly pathetic attempt to silence us is a knee-jerk reaction to an expose which dug up some of the murky secrets of Vitol plc and their esteemed CEO. Read the transcribed article they (the baddies) don't want you to see HERE. This is not the first time Better Together and their donors have tried to silence us and it wont be the last. We continue to resist.

YOU CANNOT SILENCE US ALL

X / NATIONAL COLLECTIVE / X

"We are an open and non-party political group of artists and creatives, a campaign and a state of mind. If you believe the world has so much to gain from an independent Scotland, If you believe the opportunity of a new nation is too good to miss, If you believe imagination is key to creating a better society, And that self-determination and self-expression go hand-in-hand, You are National Collective.

With the most exciting political period for centuries fast approaching Scotland, now is the time for the country’s creative community to help shape the vision of a new society and nation."

"As humanity perfects itself, man becomes degraded. When everything is reduced to the mere counter-balancing of economic interests, what room will there be for virtue? When Nature has been so subjugated that she has lost all her original forms, where will that leave the plastic arts? And so on. In the mean time, things are going to get very murky." Gustave Flaubert, 1846

You better thank your lucky stars.....it's time for another show! From this point until the opening night I'll be keeping my new work in the murkiest of secrecy. I already have a gaggle of unseen artworks for you to behold...you'll just have to come along if you're curious. Besides my paintings, there will be some new pieces by OMARINA - Lord knows we spoil you!

I'm also pleased to say that a percentage of my painting sales will go to The Unity Centre, a charity offering friendly, practical solidarity and mutual aid to all asylum seekers, refugees and sans papiers.

IndieGoGo

I am incredibly excited indeed to share some news with you dear readers. After almost a year of  rehearsals and pre-production our film WAITRESS has reached the next stage. This is the bit where you can get involved. But first a few words on the background of the project itself and the mechanics of crowdfunding. In this post you will be taken, mood permitting, to the INDIEGOGO PAGE for our film. Alighting there, you will see that various levels of donation are available to you and that there are a number of remarkable perks on offer in reward for your generosity. Crowdfunding by nature is a way for you to get directly involved in the realization of a film while the makers of the film themselves get to create something that has full creative autonomy.

WAITRESS is written and directed by Stephen Sheriff and I will be starring alongside actress Laura Mcmonagle, fresh from a No.2 UK box office hit. It's exciting to be part of what could be at the forefront of the Scottish cultural landscape and free from the shackles of big arts funding bodies. Crowdfunding really works, boycott mediocrity, join us!  CLICK HERE FOR MORE.
